Puccini - La Boheme March 4, 2008 As a lover of opera and Pavaraotti, I wanted this dvd very much. I was very pleased with the quality of it and look forward to viewing it again and again.
La Boheme/Pavorotti, Scotto, Nkska, Wixell, Plishka, Levine December 21, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
The visual reproduction is fair the audio is also fair, not nearly up to the quality of recent productions, but it's still ( a young) Pararotti and Scotto, et al and it's still Boheme. Could be better, but still very enjoyable.
Beautiful Corny Opera December 18, 2007 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
La Boheme, a DVD of one of a series of Metroplitan Opera broadcasts, is opera at it's best...in my opinion. But I have always enjoyed opera not as a high-society, intellectual exercise featuring international stars dressed in formal attire, but rather as Corny Melodrama at its best. And this particular production is surely one of the finest examples of what kept the Italian commoners who crowded the theaters in ages past on the edges of their seats. I encourage anyone who is not an opera fan to try this one out, being sure to have a little Chianti in every act, relax and laugh and weep with the rest of us.
Then try Madame Butterfly, Carmen and the rest of the classics. You will love it.
Outstanding November 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This production is beatiful in every way. I had forgotten that Renata Scotto can really sing. Be sure to listen to the interviews that Tony Randall conducts with Levine, Pavarotti, and Scotto.
Great DVD November 8, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Opera is excellent, the voices of Pavarotti and Scotto are very good, unfortunatelly Pavarotti didn't get the aria Che gelida manina as clean as I have heard him in another videos but still, is exciting and beautiful. The bonus tracks have some interesting interviews with Scotto, Levine and Pavarotti.
