Could Not Hold My Daughter's Interest November 11, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
My daughter (17 months) really loves Elmo's World. So we bought more Seasame Street Dvds hoping she would enjoy them. Unfortunely, this one didn't capture her interest. This might be better for an older child who is interested in learning about other cultures.
Educational and Fun! June 19, 2000 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
With the help of beloved Elmo, Sesame Street Celebrates Around The World not only entertains toddlers with festive songs and sights, it also teaches children about diverse holiday traditions from across the globe. As a news anchorperson, Elmo converses with his cousins around the world -- Elmo lookalikes dressed adorably in international costumes -- and discovers how children commemorate the holidays. In Japan, for example, children are shown flying kites and partaking in the festive "pounding of the rice," while kids in Mexico reveal how they create a pinata and use it during their holiday parties. Each segment is highlighted with an enchanting song, and other Sesame Street regulars, such as Rosita, keep viewers involved by making appearances throughout the video. Though Elmo lovers will no doubt be riveted to the screen, others may find it less engaging than other Sesame Street videos (such as Elmo Saves Christmas), since there is much more talking than singing, and because the Sesame Street characters are featured less prominently than the children around the world. However, if you're looking for a video that will broaden your child's horizons while broadening their Elmo video library, this is it...overall it is as fun as it is educational, worthwhile as it is entertaining.
