I just watched this film and I loved it. There was an interesting story line that wasn't one bit predictable, excellent actors who all played parts true to their actual ages, and parents who were not only interesting but also fundamental to the story line just as much as their kids. I want to re-watch it right now it was that good. This is classified as a comedy, but it's also a drama. There are true characters who you really care about and want to see how their troubles will be resolved. I urge people of all age to watch this film. It's instantly one of my favorites. I'm a bit sad the movie is over because I'm not ready to say goodbye to such great characters

This is a great movie about how a high school kid tries to grow up too fast. And it great seeing Robert Downey Jr. in his role as the principle. For so long he's played the rebel, it's great to see him at the other end of the stick, and he does a great job

Anton Yelchin plays "Charlie Bartlett" extremely well in one of the best High School movies I have seen in years. Richard Downey Jr. does a wonderful job as a principal and father. I don't recall laughing this much at the truth in years. It is refreshing to see movies like this brooch difficult problems that students really have and with a twist that may seem to crazy to believe. I wouldn't put it past the fact this may be based on a true story. Charlie is having trouble staying in the private schools his mother puts him in since his dad went off to prison.
She finally puts him in a public school. At first he finds he is an outsider, but then by actually listening to the students he finds a niche that makes him very popular. His prescriptions for their mental health may not be any better than those his psychiatrists give him , but he learns along the way and ends up giving sound advice. Good quality DVD with great replayability. If you enjoyed this be sure to catch "School of Rock","Ferris Bueller's Day Off", and "The Breakfast Club". - C. Luster
Aiming fo a Pump Up The Volume type movie... July 15, 2008
...and i was ok with that. it was a cute high school movie about a boy who just wanted to be accepted and unfortunately hits the nail on the head as for the way high school are now a days. of course they throw in some unbelievable aspects of this but thats what makes it a movie. i enjoyed it and believe this a movie for the new generation.

The only thing good about this movie is Roert Downey Jr. and the title charcater. They were both really good. Downy especially. Very real talent. Everything eles was so far out there... yuck.
