An amazing film that demands repeated viewings. February 6, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a literate and sweeping film version of the life of T.E. Lawrence. So many elements combine to make this a timeless film. Robert Bolt's brilliant script portrays Lawrence as a complex and contradictory man. The cinematography is so perfect, you could blow up any frame of the film and hang it on your wall. This music carries you away with its grandeur. I believe this to be David Lean's greatest work.
blue eyes, white cloth, yellow desert February 4, 1999 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a rare film. David Lean somehow manages to combine the qualities of epic grandeur with complex characterization, in a way that no other director has, before or since. To see this film on the big screen, as I did in London a few years ago, is a cinematic experience without equal, not only for the spiritually intense desert vistas, but for the endless blue whirlpools that are Peter O'Toole's eyes. The saddest eyes I ever saw. This is simply a heroic film.
Lawrence of Arabia is a wonderful movie. January 30, 1999 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lawrence of Arabia is a wonderful interpretation of the adventurous life of Colonel T.E. Lawrence. The mixture of Peter O'Toole's wonderful British acting and Omar Sharif's exotic acting style is great. I'd recommend this movie to lovers of the classics like me, or people interested in the lives of the great men of WWI, and anybody else who wants to see a great movie.
