I enjoyed it May 28, 2008 I thought this was a very good movie. Well acted, loved the scenery and costumes. I felt like I was Bath again!
Good but not great May 3, 2008 A very good version of "Persuasion" and a must have for Jane Austen fans but not her best story.
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful April 24, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
In my opinion this is THE best film adaptation of any Jane Austen novel. That is high praise given the fact that Persuasion is not, in my opinion, Jane Austen's best novel. Everything about it is perfect: the actors, the dialogue, the cinematography, the production design, the costumes . . . It is true to the novel in respect to plot, characters, and dialogue but there is a sweetness that touches the heart and uplifts the spirit that is somewhat missing in the book.
Forget the rest! April 14, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have never read the book, but I plan to do so in the near furture after thorougly enjoying this movie. Ciaran Hinds is breathtaking in his depiction, particularly during the scene where they met at the concert and his letter to Anne. A must see for period piece lovers.

This movie starts off slow but is an excellent adaptation of Jane Austen's written work. I love the fact that not every actor is drop dead gorgeous...and the prelude to the kiss was fantastic! Anyone with a love of Jane Austen will love this movie!
