One of the true classics of the Gold Rush literature. Taylor was sent (by Horace Greeley) to California as a newspaper correspondent, with the intention of writing a book. He describes his voyage to California and his stays in San Francisco and the principal gold fields. An accurate picture of life in the gold fields, and a very readable account. 9 inches tall, 411 pages, notes, appendix.
