Product Description Teen holly hamilton is tired of moving every time her single mom jean has a personal meltdown involving another 2nd rate guy. To distract her mother from her latest bad choice holly conceives a plan for the perfect man. An imaginary secret admirer who will romance jean and boost her shaky self-esteem. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 01/27/2009 Starring: Heather Locklear Chris Noth Run time: 101 minutes Rating: Pg Director: Mark Rosman
Amazon.com One of Hilary Duff's most attractive qualities is that she's not a borderline anorexic like too many Hollywood starlets; she has a warm, full-bodied presence that makes her dangerously glossy prettiness accessible. Similarly, Heather Locklear--who's been an iconic plastic blonde on television for decades--is cultivating a bruised humanity as she matures. These two combine forces in The Perfect Man, a curious teen comedy/adult romance hybrid about a single mother named Jean (Locklear, Melrose Place) whose tactic for getting over a broken heart is to move to a different part of the country, uprooting her two daughters Holly and Zoe (Duff, Cheaper by the Dozen, and newcomer Aria Wallace) in the process. Holly, to keep her mother from falling into another desperate and doomed relationship, uses advice from a schoolfriend's uncle (Chris Noth, Sex and the City) to send Jean flowers and love letters from a secret admirer. Of course, sustaining this fantasy requires some wacky antics, but The Perfect Man balances goofiness with an emotional mother/daughter tug-of-war and has some entertaining supporting actors (including Caroline Rhea, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and Carson Kressley, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy). The plot, however, has holes so big that it collapses even as it unfolds. --Bret Fetzer

the perfect man August 3, 2008 This is a feel good movie, the only thing I have to say is they should have met sooner, I just feel a little robbed. They could have put the couple together a lot sooner, then just at the end of the movie, I sometimes feel like that is the mistake a lot of the movies make, other then that it would have gotten five stars.
I Loved It.... July 16, 2008 I so loved it, this movie has a lesson to be learned, and it was taught very well. I'm a huge fan of Hilary Duff, and her sister, and i think this movie was the bomb, off the hook. :)
Mermaids Redux February 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very similar to the 1989 movie Mermaids with Cher and Winona Ryder. This teen romantic comedy stars the genetically blessed mother-daughter duo of Heather Locklear and Hillary Duff. Mom moves every time she breaks up with a guy and when the trio arrive in Brroklyn, Duff's character wants to stay now. Her and her new friend create a fake online beau for mom to stay in town until the gag goes out of hand. Turns out the friend's bachelor uncles is a perfect match for mom while a cute classmate jsut may be what the overprotective daughter needs. A cute comedy about playing around with match.com and how running away never solves your problems.
Surprisingly good October 18, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although overall on the cute side, the story is a lot better than expected. First of all, it gets points for being upbeat and having a good message (unlike so much other trash etched onto metal). Some parts are almost philosophical in how the mother has to come to terms with her opinion of herself. Some interesting twists and symmetries in the overall arc of the story, although the ending was a bit too "perfect". Refreshingly, apparently nice guys do still exist.
