Amazon.com Millions wears its heart on its sleeve, and it wears it well. Two boys, still grieving the death of their mother, find themselves the unwitting benefactors of a bag of bank robbery loot in the week before the United Kingdom switches its official currency to the Euro. What's a kid to do? Director Danny Boyle takes a simple premise and, with the help of Frank Cottrell Boyce's sweet, smart script, finds something special to say about the hopes everyone has for the future of a changing world. Brothers Anthony and Damian have vastly different agendas for the stash, and then have to deal not only with the money's original thief but with the disarming woman who seems to be stealing their widowed father. The film is full of quirks that work--seven-year-old Damian (an endearing Alex Etel) has private conversations with a collection of eclectic religious saints--and a technically spirited way of commingling both the scary realities and fanciful imaginings of young minds. --Steve Wiecking

Cried my heart out, and just felt warm and fuzzy all over... November 24, 2008 This is an utterly LOVELY little movie, full of heart, laughs, tears, faith, God, family, and doing the right thing.
If seeing Joseph leading the little Papier Mache donkey down the hall towards the end doesn't get you, right. here., you're not human. :)
For those who are reading screeching Puritans blathering about the "soft core porn" and "full frontal breasts/nipples", relax. There's not a single breast OR nipple to be seen in this movie. There's a dark shadow behind a heavily laced bra in a still photo on a computer. OMG! Call the Pornography police!
In any case, all 12/14 year old kids are looking at Victoria's Secret ad's online. Even the kids of the Puritans writing reviews here, much as they'd deny it. ;)
Cheers all!
Delightful movie October 18, 2008 Thoroughly enjoyable family movie. No violence, sex or profanity. Hallelujah!! The young boy was refreshing. The movie industry needs to make more of these kinds of pictures. My wife and I and our friends are in our 70's and have seen more than our share of badly made and acted movies with no plots other than shock, gore, violence and foul language. Kudos to the makers of this film.
See this movie! July 28, 2008 I fell in love with Damian Cunningham. He is the dear sweet little boy we all want for our own. I bought the DVD, then I bought the book. I will enjoy them both over and over.
The Best Movie You Never Saw July 9, 2008 This was nothing short of brilliant film-making. It's a little on the family/feel-good side of things, but with enough to keep your attention if you wanted to watch it with a friend. Great acting all around and a fantastic soundtrack.
Sweet but not Sickly June 3, 2008 My wife and I loved this little film. The Amazon critic and others have pretty much summed up the plot and story so I'm not going to rehash those points. I'll just add that it is beautifully shot and all of the kids in this film know how to act without being corny. Quite honestly, this film left me wishing I could be young and unblemished by the world again. It reminded me of who I once was before I reached middle age with all of its accompanying disappointments and cynicism. This film is sweet without being "goopy" or sickly. I believe it will leave you thinking about who you could be once again. Buy it or at the very least put it on your Netflix list.
