A brilliant, brilliant show! January 2, 2009
I'm just going to echo the rest - this television show is far superior to anything the U.S. has ever put together. The writing is superb. The actors are so good that every character and story is riveting. I wish I could stumble upon more of these shows since so many American t.v. shows are the same formula - good looking cop or doctor in a relationship with good looking nurse or other cop. Most American shows seem to have the same predictable plots (except for the British steals like "Eleventh Hour", "Life on Mars" "The Office" etc.) I never know what is going to happen to a character in a BBC series because the writing seems to reign and they seem to allow for stories to unfold and keep the show running rather than the popularity of an actor/actress. My only wish is that some production company would duplicate these DVDs and other British t.v. and movies for American audiences. I'm tired of waiting for American formatted DVDs in order to see these superb shows. For those of you hooked on cop and doctor shows, try the British television version with such shows as "Blue Murder" and "MI5" and "Prime Suspect" and "Doc Martin". These are full of unique personalities, more great writing and strong female leads. And for those who haven't tried Aussie shows - take a look at "Rain Shadow" - a great new show about women vets in the middle of nowhere Australia.

This series is one of the best British TV has done. The majority of the cast are women and they do an amazing job. ]
Can't wait for the next in the series.

The only problem with The First Season of Bad Girls is that you can't get any of the other seasons in a format for US dvd players. I suspect the reason is that the series about women in prison is now projected to be transplanted to American television complete with an American setting. I suppose that can work, but I doubt that the translation will be satisfying for those who became attached to the British characters. Still, this single season holds up well on its own merits - good acting, intriguing characters, dramatic situations, humor and tragedy - and is worth the time and money

I started watching this show on LOGO last year which I think was about Season 3 for them. The acting is amazing. The storylines are riveting. I cannot say enough good things about this show. I just had to get previous seasons to catch up with the story and get to know the background of the characters. I'm bummed that all the seasons aren't available for U.S. DVD players yet but I'm hoping that will change soon! If you're a fan of British drama ala EastEnders this is definitely the show for you!

This is a fabulous series. Season 1 is terrific and make sure to check out the rest of the series - so good you'll be willing to buy the all region DVD player you'll need to watch the rest!
