| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com This unusual but strikingly affecting movie stars Marisa Tomei as Ruby, a young woman with a string of bad relationships behind her, who falls in love with a guy named Sam (Vincent D'Onofrio, Full Metal Jacket, The Whole Wide World). Initially, Sam just seems quirky, but eventually he tells her his secret: he's a time traveler from 400 years in the future. Happy Accidents walks a delicate line between genres, never making it clear whether Sam is delusional or telling the truth until the end. The strange blend of genres (which plays like romantic comedy, not like science fiction) may make some viewers balk, but writer-director Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland) has a gift for both revealing psychological insights and sensual moments--like when Sam explains principals of time travel by running his hands up Ruby's leg--that, combined with the superb cast, are constantly engaging and sincerely touching. --Bret Fetzer
Description Academy Award winner* Marisa Tomei (In the Bedroom) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black) star in this "touching love story" (Boxoffice) about a neurotic New Yorker, her highly eccentric boyfriend and their extraordinary connection. "Cleverly plotted [with] an abundance of heart" (The New York Times), this captivating romance will make you crazy for love! Ruby (Tomei) is a hopeless romantic who's always attracted to the wrong kind of guy until shemeets Sam (D'Onofrio). He's sweet, sensitive, sincere and from the year 2470. Despiteor maybe because ofhis bizarre claims to have traveled back in time to save her, Ruby falls for Sam. And while common sense says he's crazy, her heart says he's the one.

If you like romances... September 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a huge fan of Vincent D'onofrio, but also of Sam Deed, the character he plays in this movie. I am married to a hopeless romantic myself, so I know men like Sam do exist but they are extremely rare. The plot is a little strange, but hey! Who cares? If you want to watch a movie that leaves you with a smile on your face and hope for the relationships between men and women, then buy this one. It will not disappoint!
B - Movie -Don't waste your money September 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This a B quality movie. Good actors in a poor quality movie. Very slow, dumb movie. I do not understand the other reviews that say good things about this movie. Don't waste your money on this.
A beautiful yet quirky love story! August 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is great! I'd give it more stars if I could. A romance for the past, future and all time. Clever, witty and heartfelt. Wonderful!
Happy Accidents funny movie June 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Vincent D'Onofrio and Marisa Tomei are great together in this romantic-comedy. His explantions are totally off the wall and her strength to believe in him leads too many funny situations. Highly recommend.
An enjoyable movie May 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A wonderful movie about the relationship between a woman, Ruby(Marisa Tomei), who has a bad history with men and Sam(Vincent D'Onofrio). Ruby usually becomes connected to men who have problems. She is the consumate enabler until she gets to a breaking point. Sam is a quirky young man who works in a hospice. He is always drawing on a large tablet. Ruby finds Sam gentle and spontaneous. He will drop everything to buy her flowers even though he didn't know a carnation from a rose. Ruby finds Sam's tablet by accident and it reveals the name Christie DeLancey along with a picture of a pretty woman. Devastated, Ruby now beleives that Sam is cheating on her. Instead of the old lies all woman/men have heard, Sam tells her that he is from the year 2470 AD. He has traveled into the past to find her. Christie DeLancey is another "back traveler" and his contact in 1996. She gets him his phoney documents and show him how to "flag" a cab. Though I think all "back traveler" contacts should enclude a tour of the public library in their tour of the past. But I suppose that would make the character of Sam less charming. In an effort to show her how "back travel" works, he slides his hands on her leg Ruby then decides he is crazy and that he is yet another misfit that she "should" take care of. She prepares to end the relationship, but her best friend, Gretchen(Nadia Danjani) tells her it's all about sex. She is told it's a sex game and play along. In the end we learn whether Sam is crazy or not, but whether he is or not this is a romantic comedy that anyone might enjoy. I own it and have watched it several times since I got it.
