Amazon.com If you don't mind a heavy dose of schmaltz and sentiment, this romantic comedy has a gentle way of seducing you with its charms. While You Were Sleeping was the first starring role for Sandra Bullock after her blockbuster success in Speed. In a role that nicely emphasizes her easygoing appeal, Bullock is the reason the movie works at all. She plays Lucy Eleanor Moderatz, a Chicago Transit tollbooth clerk who's hopelessly smitten with a daily commuter, Peter Callaghan (Peter Gallagher). She saves the object of her affection from certain death after he's mugged and falls onto the train tracks. While Peter is in a coma, she lets his family believe that she is his fiancee, and surprisingly finds herself drawn to his brother (Bill Pullman), for whom the attraction is definitely mutual. How Lucy gets out of this amorous predicament is what makes this pleasant movie less predictable than its familiar ingredients would initially indicate. It's feel-good fluff, with characters and performances that keep you smiling through the drippy plot mechanics. --Jeff Shannon

One of the great fluffy chick flicks September 27, 2008 Yes, I am one of "those girls". I can watch this over and over and still swoon over the sheer cuteness of a heartfelt comedy that happily takes the ridiculous in stride. This is Sandra Bullock at the top of romance game playing an orphaned subway employee whose crush conveniently gets mugged into a coma on her watch. What follows is a sweet comedy about a girl without a family suddenly thrown into one.
Favorite movie of all time September 14, 2008 This is the movie you'll watch over and over again...even when it's on t.v. and you have to sit through the commercials! Bill Pullman is irresistable, Sandra Bullock is cute, and the rest of the cast is perfect!
Awesome August 31, 2008 This movie has so many different twists and turn. I loved the fact that it didn't follow the usual pattern as far as romance movies go. Her "fiance's" family is hilarious with an off-beat grandmother leading the craziness. Plus the main character Lucy has her own stalker, her landlord's son who claimed to invent aluminum foil. Plus there is a physical scene that will just kill you; girls will be cringing saying ewwie while guys will shift uncomfortably. So awesome. Great movie to kick back, relax, watch, laugh at and coo at.
Glynis Johns August 23, 2008 WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING is one of my favorite DVD movies to enjoy again every Christmas holiday season. It has a stellar cast of characters, one of my favorites being Glynis Johns who plays the grandmother. Remember her as Mrs. Banks in MARY POPPINS?

Put a smile on your holiday season August 1, 2008 This is one of my favorite movies. It's not complicated, and I don't think it's full of deep, existential meaning (or maybe I'm just not looking for it), but it is sweet and fun to watch and is sure to make me and my teenage daughters smile every time.
