| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Eddie Kamae, a leading force in the Hawaiian cultural renaissance of the past thirty years, has spent his life documenting and illuminating cultural traditions and old Hawaiian ways. Written by James D. Houston and interspersed with Eddie's recollections, Hawaiian Son charts this Hawaiian man's very personal odyssey across the backdrop of the twentieth-century Hawai'i. Generously illustrated with historic photos and drawings, the 280-page book insightfully portrays the influential kupuna, dancers, musicians, and storytellers who have guided Eddie on his lifelong journey.

Brought back great childhood memories from my native Hawaii January 20, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A fascinating read into the creative processes used by Hawaiian music legend Eddie Kamae throughout his career. Sons of Hawaii fans will appreciate Mr. Kamae's genuine and honest accounts of his life-changing journey during the renaissance period of Hawaiian music and culture. It awakened many fond childhood memories of the music of my childhood growing up in Hawaii in the 1970s. Reading accounts of Mr. Kamae's interviews with Hawaiian kupuna in order to preserve Hawaiian music gave me "chicken-skin." (goosebumps)
